Im good with computers however i cant understand the lingo you guys used above ^ about how to burn or play a vcd in sega dreamcast. I know this topic very old but i need help. they cannot help it if they were brainwashed by sony, they cannot help it if they are slaves. For those of you out there who read this and have friends with ps2s do not scorn them, rather they deserve your pity.

Its sad really that Sega abandoned the DC, i just wished they would have released the DVD player (even though i have one which has Dolby 5.0, DTS, optical out, s video, color stream, VCD and CD playback, and it cost 50 bucks less than a ps2 which doesnt even have dolby digital), but still, I shall never part from my DC, even if i need the money for a transplant of some sort. Of all the systems i have been privy to owning (and thats A LOT) this system has the highest percentage of AAA games, and perhaps the most AAA games. For a "dead system" it still has over 20 games scheduled for release with over 80 percent of them uber awesome. While all of these 5th party apps in themselves promise an eternal life the games are just superb.
and I havent even mentioned the games yet. Currently i am looking for a program that would allow me to port some VB programs of mine over to the dreamcast.

everyone talks about the ps2, about its graphics(which i have yet to see a major, nay any improvemeent over the DC(JAGGIES EVERYWHERE!)) but yet this small white system is perhaps one of the most fun anyone can own.Right now i am listening to a disc full of mp3s on my dreamcast and before that i was watching Terrance and Phillip in "Not Without My Anus" and several music videos. This column is yet another example of why everyone should purchase a dreamcast. if anyone wants to know any more about this subject i will gladly write tutorials on how to convert avi and mpg to the *.sfd format,īecause in my opinion, the results are way better than gypplay(no offence to the author, its still a great prog ) it also fails to mention that you need both the *.sfa and *sfd file on the disc, and that the finished cd will need the assistance of a dc 'boot disk' which may have thrown ppl off, thinking they have created a coaster. what it means when it talks about 'bumper.sfd' is that you have to rename your finished files to that before burning them to dc disc. the tutorial mentioned in an earlier post was really very well written, and translated even worse.
so if u a converting a vcd or some other type of mpg, it doesnt take long at all to get great video results on the dc. i was amazed at how quik it was, butthen realised, its not actually encoding anything, just converting the files, so that they know they r linked to each other. so of course i demultiplexed a sample file, and put it through the encoder, and about 10seconds later i had my 2 dc files. well as far as i was concerned, these 2 files werent all that different from an mpg which had been demultiplexed.
a litle while ago i did some research into the dc *.sfd format, and it is pretty much the same as mpg1, but with a few minor differences, such as the audio and video being kept in 2 different files, an *.sfa and an *.sfd.
what alot of ppl realise is that it not *just* for divx, it'll work with any avi file, and it will convert mpgs too. Ive actually got the dc moviemaker to work really well, with much more pleasing results than gypplay.
